They’re spread all over the world, but if you live in New York City, you’ve more than likely seen the stickers, if not, Google #fearisdead. You may have even met someone rocking the wristband, if you go to heavy music events it’s only a matter of time.
Fear is Dead (FiD) Conceived in a Queens garage in 2010, the band’s unique sound and intense energy have bridged fans together from Metal, HipHop and Hardcore/Punk scenes. Rhythmic, riff-centric guitars provide a sonic playground for aggressive vocals that are primal, yet thought-provoking. Backed by strong bass grooves and heavy syncopated drums. Since their self-titled debut in 2011, they have been racking up a number of awe-inspiring live performances all over NYC.
The band was born from and transcends the everyday struggle, exploring the darker, deeper, and sometimes grittier side of the human experience. Five EPs have been released to date – Fear Is Dead, Mourning Ritual, Eleutherophobia, What Remains, and Omnicidal. In 2019, following their last release, the band put together a short but well-received west coast tour. Launching from Vegas to California, then up the western seaboard to Seattle and back, making new fans and friends along the way.
FiD has shared the stage with notable local artists like Rebelmatic, Solemn Vision, and touring bands like Hed P.E. The group has also been featured in publications such as Metal Injection, Metal Underground.Com, Aquarian Weekly, Tattoo.Com, and New Noise Magazine.
The guys are currently working on their first full-length LP to be released in 2022. The present lineup consists of the front-man and founder, Skila, and David English (guitarist for the last three EPs, and second senior member). Ish Roberts (drums) has spent nearly 3 years leading the group rhythmically. Lastly, FiD welcomes their newest member, Tony Sofio (bass), into the fold as of 2021

“What makes this band special is that we’re all friends, and we’re all receptive to going outside of our respective “comfort zones” as musicians. Some groups are essentially “co-workers”, but Fear is Dead feels more like a family.”
